Eye strain from screens (digital eye strain)
Digital eye strain, also called computer vision syndrome, is very common in people who spend hours on phones and laptops. It is uncomfortable but usually temporary.
Common causes
- 01Long screen sessions without breaks (you blink less)
- 02Uncorrected vision, or an outdated glasses prescription
- 03Glare, poor lighting, or a screen too close
- 04Dry eye

An eye test with an optometrist, especially if it has been more than two years.
When to see a doctor
Get urgent care for eye pain, sudden blurred or lost vision, or new flashes of light or floaters.
